Laying wobbly headstones flat in case they fell on someone has caused an even greater hazard – tripping over them.
Council workers were sent to Radwinter Road Cemetery, in Saffron Walden, to test headstones for safety and told to lay flat any “hazardous” ones – about 200 were affected.

MONTREAL — A confidential federal memo suggests Canada’s last fully functional asbestos mine is about to die, raising the prospect the controversial industry might just disappear on its own.
The Natural Resources Canada memorandum, released under the Access to Information Act, estimates that the life of Quebec’s Lac d’amiante du Canada will end in early 2012.
Unclean Ampang Jaya eateries shut
AMPANG JAYA: No matter how delicious the food is at your favourite eatery, if the environment is unclean, stay away from the outlet.
This advice came from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) environmental health officer Ghazali Ab Wahab who shut down three dirty eateries at Kg Tasek Permai yesterday.
“If you are health conscious, don’t patronise dirty outlets even if they provide your favourite meals,” he said.
“When eateries fail to adhere to repeated warnings to clean up their premises, we shut them down.”

Owners of the Curry Palace in North Street appeared at Grantham Magistrates’ Court and they were found guilty of two breaches of food safety.
They were fined £2,000 for each offence, which was reduced to £1,300 for the early guilty plea and mitigation, and ordered to pay £776 prosecution costs.

The event on Southsea Common marked Action Mesothelioma Day yesterday – a day intended to raise awareness about the cancer and how the deadly dust is still around today.
